R04 Course: Pensions & Retirement Planning

The syllabus aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the tax and legal frameworks that govern pensions, as well as the features of different types. It does this by splitting the learning over 8 learning outcomes:

R04: ‘Pensions and Retirement Planning’ (10 Credits) The CII’s R04 exam, ‘ Pensions and Retirement Planning ’ forms part of the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and upon successful completion will give you 10 credits at diploma level. As noted on the facing page, there are 8 learning outcomes for the R04 exam, with different weight and emphasis applied to each. The R04 course is suitable for anyone wanting to gain the full CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, but would be particularly beneficial for also Paraplanners, Technical Consultants, and those working in financial planning support roles.

The exam is a 1 hour exam, made up of 50 questions; 39 questions are single response questions and 11 are multiple response questions, which require you to select more than one answer. The question will not specify how many answers you need to select, making these quite tricky! The R04 exam has a current pass mark of 65%. R04: The Exam
